Kicking off the second Sunday of Carnival in St. Mark’s Square is the La Farandola Association!

Appointment at 11 am on Sunday 4th February

The La Farandola Dance Company (formerly the Arcella historical dance group of Padua), was founded in October 2002 and developed as an integral part of the figurant group of the Palio Arcella Cultural Association: initially the purpose was to complement the numerous attractions offered by the Palio di Sant’Antonin, set in the 13th century. Then the common passion that stimulated the members of the group to deepen the study, research and learning of the ancient dances, led them to decide to endow themselves with a new name, the current one (inspired by the homonymous, typical early medieval dance), and to enrich the repertoire with the first codified dances that have come down to the present day, dating back to the 15th/16th century.

The La Farandola Dance Company has already performed in various important historical re-enactments in the Veneto region and around Italy.
