Valentine’s Day in St. Mark’s Square
The Venice Carnival 2025 kicks off with a tribute to Valentine’s night. ‘Heart to heart’ is the theme of the grand opening night. Friday 14 February, Valentine’s Day, Piazza San Marco transforms into the most fascinating stage in the world to kick off the Venice Carnival. A unique atmosphere, where history and legend blend together, giving life to an unforgettable experience!
From 6:30 pm, hosted by Marco Maccarini and Chiara Perale, the intrusions of the eclectic Prince Maurice in the role of a sophisticated Casanova and an unlikely Valentino played by the jester Manuel Bruttomesso (aka Nespolo Giullare), the Venice Carnival turns the spotlight on a rich evening of variety and entertainment.
The rhythm of the tango will merge with the passion of Casanova: during the evening the eclectic hosts follow one another in gags and moments of daring romanticism, introducing the performances of historical dances, a concert show of Opera pop, flamenco music and dance, boogie woogie and modern dance, to continue the evening with live music and DJ Set to dance in the square heart to heart!
Special Guests Jacopo Sarno and Silvia Scartozzoni, protagonists of the show created by Red Canzian “Casanova Operapop”, who present the most intense songs of the musical introduced on stage by Red Canzian himself.
On the stage in Piazza San Marco: the historical dances of the Dame e Cavalieri and Le Maschere di Mario associations, the dance shows with the companies Dance4fun Company, Doo-Wop Boogiedancers and Soleàma (flamenco), the modern opera with the duo Silvia Celadin and Alberto Zanetti accompanied by the accordion of Mirko Satto, and the wild final live and DJ set of Aba Chiara Show.
Joining us on stage is the versatile lyric soprano, Alessia Pintossi. Hailing from Brescia and now making Venice her home, Alessia will be enchanting the audience with the world premiere of her single, “Komorebi”. Her performance will be further enhanced by the graceful movements of five contemporary dancers.
The initiative “URLA IL TUO AMORE” returns in this edition, a special occasion for equally special declarations of love from the most romantic square in the world. Lovers who want to shout out their declaration of love from the stage of San Marco can send their couple selfie to [email protected] with the reason for the declaration. The most creative lovers will be selected to go on stage and shout out their love. For last minute declarations there will also be the possibility of participating during the evening, by addressing our friendly Valentino directly!
