THE ART OF COMEDY

Curated and managed by PANTAKIN, directed by Emanuele Pasqualini and Michele Modesto Casarin, this third edition of the festival expands its programming beyond Campo Santo Stefano and Piazza San Marco also in Campo San Cassiano, Campo Santa Margherita and Piazza Ferretto (Mestre).
On the wooden comedy stages, set up today as they were centuries ago, 14 different companies will take to the stage, alternating for 180 performances.
Thanks to the support of Vela, the City of Venice and the Artistic Direction of Massimo Checchetto, the Comici dell’Arte are back to tell in their own way, through jokes and songs, monologues and duels, masks and a frenetic rhythm, stories that overcome linguistic and generational barriers and aim directly at the heart and smile of the audience.

Pantakin was founded in Venice in 1995 as a popular theatre company, with the aim of keeping alive the tradition of Commedia dell’Arte and mask theatre, developing a theatrical language capable of overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers. The development of the activity and research on popular theatre genres has led Pantakin to structure its activity in the field of production and distribution of shows and the conception and organization of events, in particular in the genres of Commedia dell’Arte and Circus Theatre.
