The 17th International Kids’ Carnival of La Biennale di Venezia will take place from Saturday 7 to Sunday 15 February, 2026 at Ca’ Giustinian, the headquarters of La Biennale, which for the occasion will be transformed into the House of Creativity with a special edition dedicated to sporting challenges and traditions, in dialogue with the XXV Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

A rich and engaging programme designed for schools, families and citizens celebrates the values of sport and culture. A major new feature is the participation of the Olympic Museum, which will bring three Olympian Artists to Venice: olympic and paralympic athletes who are also actively engaged in artistic practice. Creative workshops will introduce younger participants to Olympic principles together with these artists.

The Carnival is further enriched by The Human Safety Net with two workshops inspired by the interactive exhibition A World of Potential; Carnevale in barca, a cycle of workshops curated by Arzanà and Venti di Cultura to discover historic Venetian boats; with the Štěpán Zavřel Foundation with an activity inspired by the illustrated book “La trasformazione del bruco” by Suzuko Momoyama; with pedagogical workshops by the Chair Holder Prof. Emiliana Mannese of the UNESCO Chair Generative Pedagogy and Educational Systems to Tackle Inequality and philosophical narrative activities by the German Centre for Venetian Studies. Finally, new participants include the San Donà Opportunity APS Association, with workshops on the language of cinema dedicated to young children.

A new feature of the programme is the introduction of activities also designed for adults, open to anyone who wishes to get involved and try out new experiences, such as the small tailoring workshop Tessere graffiti, dedicated to the creation of creative mandalas and a collective weaving project, Carnival Yoga and the community dance workshop Fili su fili, which invites participants to create temporary bonds through movement and relationships.

Moreover, on Thursday 12th February, Giovedì Grasso, Carnevale in barca will be open to the public with guided visits from 4.30 pm until available places are filled (booking recommended; for information contact [email protected]).

ALL ACTIVITIES ARE FREE OF CHARGE AND REQUIRE ADVANCE BOOKING
