Da naso a naso is a fascinating monologue that intertwines the stories of Pinocchio and Cyrano de Bergerac. Pietrangelo Buttafuoco explores themes such as lies and identity, using the nose as a central symbol, and drawing inspiration from great literary classics written by two authors such as Carlo Collodi and Edmond Rostand. In a single journey Pinocchio and Cyrano, one pulled by the nose, the other tyrannized by the nose, thus experience the eternal involution and evolution of being or becoming men. However, the connection between these iconic characters is not simply a question linked to the size of their respective noses, they also have in common the date of publication of the books, both written at the end of the 19th century. Collodi’s text, dated 1883, thus reveals social and cultural details of Italy at the time, adding depth to the intrinsic plot of the tale. In France, however, the big-nosed hero, born at the end of 1897, lives between individual heroism and a vocation for sacrifice the deeds of a poet, soldier, lover and idealist, continually put to the test by life.
