Marie dei Nicoloti: Official Parade and Presentation of the Maria of the Venice Carnival 2025
As per tradition, on Mardi Gras, the Maria of the Year and the Maria of Il Gazzettino will be officially presented to the public of the Venice Carnival!
The event begins at 2:15 PM in San Giacomo dell’Orio, where the 12 Marie will take the stage, welcomed by drums, the Doge, and his court.
At 3:00 PM, they will board traditional Venetian boats and set sail towards St. Mark’s Square for a spectacular procession along the Grand Canal, organized by Remiera San Giacomo in collaboration with Venetian rowing associations.
At 4:00 PM, the Maria of the Year 2025 will be presented to the Venice Carnival audience from the stage in St. Mark’s Square, wearing a dress specially designed for the occasion by Francesco Briggi of Atelier Pietro Longhi.
