Buffoni all’inferno

Deep in the desolate lands of hell. A tranquil and eternal day of excruciating tortures. Suddenly, a raucous barking erupts—the devils of Malebranche are running back and forth in search of their King: the fearsome Satan. On the banks of the Styx, countless souls have arrived, suddenly swept to the other world by a merciless plague—bubonic, variolic, deadly, and cowardly. The underworld is instantly clogged, and Minos, the relentless judge of souls, is forced to make superhuman efforts to assess everyone’s sins. Proceedings slow down, the spirits protest, revolt, hurl insults, and even utter a few ugly blasphemies. In his profound wisdom, Beelzebub offers a reduced sentence to three jesters—Zuan Polo, Domenico Tagliacalze, and Pietro Gonnella—so they can return to doing what they did best in life: entertaining. The show revives the ancient art of the jester, the quintessential entertainer, and devoted master of laughter.
