Carnival: Casanova Returns to Venice, But This Time Not to the Piombi, Rather to the Women’s Prison of Giudecca.
Casanova 300 celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous adventurer with a project promoted by the Venezia Pesce di Pace Association, the Compagnia dell’Arte dei Mascareri, and the Italian Union, involving the communities of Fiume, Lussinpiccolo, and Orsera.
The exhibition “Le Baute di Casanova” will showcase masterpieces of high artisan craftsmanship created by Venetian Mascareri, which visitors will also have the chance to wear!
Exceptional guides for the exhibition will be a group of female inmates who have attended a special training course led by Nadia De Lazzari.
The initiative is governed by an agreement between the Venezia Pesce di Pace Association and the Women’s Prison of Giudecca. Venice embraces dialogue to promote culture as a tool for rehabilitation.

On February 27, Fat Thursday, the exhibition will be paused for the reenactment of the “Cutting of the Bull’s Head” in St. Mark’s Square!
