Oltre i limiti. Sport Italia
From January 23 to March 15, 2026, M9 presents the exhibition “Oltre i limiti. Sport Italia (Beyond Limits. SportItalia. A Choral Portrait of a Changing Country),” on the occasion of the Winter Olympics. Conceived and produced by M9 – Museum of the 20th Century at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and created in collaboration with the Italian Society of Sports History, Touring Club Italiano, Home Movies – National Archive of Family Film, Istituto Luce, and the ANSA Archive, the exhibition uses the sporting participation of Italians as a lens to narrate the major social, cultural, and economic changes of the twentieth century and the transformations continuing into the present. The journey intertwines memory and the future through six connected thematic areas: from the spread of sports and leisure to female empowerment and the challenges of inclusion; from the relationship between sports and international mobility to the public role of sports in health and welfare; and finally, the dialogue between technology, medicine, and pushing limits, alongside the emotional dimension of fandom as a collective experience.
