The selection of the 12 Marie: date announced

As per tradition, Venice Carnival 2025 will also have its 12 Marie, the great protagonists of the official program of events.

The selection of the 12 Marie will take place on Thursday, February 13rd at 3 p.m. at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista.

If you are a young woman between the ages of 18 and 28, residing in the Metropolitan City of Venice or born in Venice (even if residing elsewhere in Italy), purchase the Gazzettino (Venice-Mestre edition), where the registration coupon will soon be available. Saturday, February 22nd the dressing ceremony will take place, curated by the Atelier Pietro Longhi. During this event, the newly selected 12 Marie will wear for the first time the costumes they will use as they experience the magic of the Venice Carnival 2025. Hair and makeup will be provided by the Crisam MakeUp Academy.

This marks the beginning of the magical journey of the Festa delle Marie.

Requirements to Register:

– Gazzettino coupon duly completed.
– Age between 18 and 28 years.
– Residency in the Metropolitan City of Venice or birth in Venice, even if residing elsewhere in Italy. Foreign applicants must also have a residence permit.

Once your registration for the selection is confirmed, you must send a 30-second video presentation to [email protected].

Last year, the title of “Maria of the Year 2024” was awarded to Silvia Zecchin, 20 years old from Noale, a Political Science and Classics student at the University of Padua, and a rhythmic gymnastics instructor for children.

The competition is in collaboration with
