The Book of Wonders of the World
A musical tribute to the famous Venetian traveler with a world premiere inspired by an episode depicted in “The Book of Wonders of the World,” a French manuscript from the late Middle Ages that gathers various illustrated texts united by the theme of the Orient. The first 84 miniatures are related to Marco Polo’s book and represent the result of work carried out by several Parisian workshops coordinated by the Master of Boucicaut.
Completing the concert program is a piece by Mozart, an artist fascinated by Oriental culture, and some works composed by another great traveler of the imagination, the creator of imaginary spaces, Frédéric Chopin.
The proceeds from the event will be entirely donated to support AIL Venezia.
