Address: Campo Santa Maria Formosa, 5252 - Venezia, 30122 Italia (Directions)

Exhibition curated by Lorenza Bravetta

A narrative composed of snapshots that, like notes taken over the course of a lifetime, offer a precious treasure chest for revisiting contemporary Venice.

The photographic exhibition presents, for the first time to the public, a cohesive collection of the work of this amateur photographer spanning the second half of the 20th century and reaching into the new millennium.

Over more than fifty years, Luigi ‘Gigi’ Ferrigno observed and documented Venice, surpassing postcard stereotypes and revealing its uniqueness and multiple contradictions. An attentive gaze, capable of delving into the folds of everyday life, lingering on the passage of time. But also a discreet approach, providing unexpected glimpses and never-obvious perspectives, fully placing Ferrigno in the realm of what is termed humanistic photography.

For Ferrigno, Venice is a lifelong commitment: the city of family, forty years of work in a glass factory on the island of Murano, and the passion for photography that accompanies him. His narrative of the city is born from personal experience and sensitivity, a historical document and representation of poetic essentiality.
